Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information TuzChat ("we," "us," "our") collects, why, and how it's handled. It applies to the TuzChat website and app (the "Service"), operated by TUBROTHERS LLC, doing business as TuzChat.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password. Your password is hashed (never stored in plain text) before being saved.

Content you create. Posts, likes, follows, and replies on the feed, and posts and comments you make in communities.

Direct messages.Messages you send through the Service are stored so they can be delivered and displayed to the recipient. They are not end-to-end encrypted, and administrators of the Service are able to access them for trust & safety purposes -- see Section 2.

Reports. If you report a post or account, we record your account, the reason you selected, any details you add, and what/who you reported, so our team can review it.

Activity status. We record the last time your account was active on the Service. This is visible to administrators only, and is used to understand how the Service is being used and to help keep it safe.

View history.We keep a record of which posts you've opened, used to show you your own History page and each post's public view count. Administrators can also review this when investigating reported or suspected violations of our Terms of Service -- see Section 2.

Automatically collected data.Your IP address is used for rate limiting (to prevent abuse) and is not stored long-term beyond what's needed for that purpose.

Visit statistics.We use simple, cookie-free analytics, run on our own server, to count visits and see which pages are viewed. It doesn't track you across other websites, and we never sell or share these statistics.

Session data. When you log in, we set a signed session cookie (tuzchat_session) that identifies you to the Service. It's HTTP-only and cannot be read by JavaScript.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and secure your account, including email verification and password reset.
To operate core features: the feed, likes, follows, replies, communities, posts, and comments.
To send transactional emails (email verification, password reset) via our email provider, Resend.
To enforce rate limits and protect the Service from abuse.
To moderate content and enforce our Terms of Service.
To review account activity, including direct messages, when investigating reported or suspected violations of our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Third Parties We Share Data With

This provider has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data on its end; we encourage you to review it as well.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active. Email verification and password reset tokens expire automatically (24 hours and 1 hour respectively) and are cleared once used. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at feedback@tuzchat.com.

5. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at feedback@tuzchat.com. We'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including password hashing (bcrypt), signed session tokens (JWT), and rate limiting on sensitive endpoints. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

TuzChat is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at feedback@tuzchat.comand we'll delete it.

8. International Data Transfers

If you access the Service from outside the country where our servers or service providers are located, your information may be transferred to and processed in other countries, which may have different data protection laws than your own.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes, notify you by email where required by law.
